How to Create Calling Cards Using MS Publisher

CREATING YOUR CARD

It is easy to get started by selecting one of the business card designs that are included with Publisher.

CREATE A ONE-SIDED BUSINESS CARD

  1. Start Publisher.
  2. In the Publication Types task pane, click Business Cards.
  3. In the Business Cards catalog, click the design that you want.
NOTE   If you know that you will be printing on a specific manufacturer's product, scroll to the specific manufacturer's section, and click the product that you will be using. If the product that you will be using is not listed, follow the procedure below.
  1. Choose any options that you want, such as a color scheme, a business information set, or whether you want portrait or landscape orientation, and then click Create.

SET UP BUSINESS CARDS FOR A SPECIFIC MANUFACTURER'S PRODUCT

If you purchased business card sheets from a specific manufacturer, you can set up your business card in Publisher so that the dimensions match the card sheets when you print the cards.
  1. In the Format Publication task pane, under Business Card Options, clickChange Page Size.
  2. In the Page Setup dialog box, scroll down to the Business Cards section, find the specific manufacturer that you want, and then click its name.
NOTE   If you can't find your specific manufacturer or their specific product, carefully measure the size of the business card that you want to print on, being sure to exclude that portion of the card that doesn't get printed on. Click Custom Page Size, and then type the business card dimensions in the Custom Page Size dialog box. For more information about setting up a custom page size, see Custom Page Size dialog box.
  1. Click the specific page size that you want, and then click OK.
  2. Before you print on your card stock, practice with some plain test sheets to make sure your business cards are printed the way that you want.

ADD YOUR TEXT

  • To replace the placeholder text with your own text, click the placeholder text and then type.
TIP   If you stored your business contact information in a business information set, and you select a business information set, it will automatically populate your business card. To edit your contact information or replace your business contact information with a different business information set, click Business Informationon the Edit menu. Find links to more information about business information sets in the See Also section.

Change the size of text

In most cases, the text is resized automatically to fit within a placeholder text box. However, you can manually adjust the text size.
  1. Click the text box.
  2. On the Format menu, point to AutoFit Text, and then click Do Not AutoFit.
  3. Select the text, and then choose a new font size from the Font Size list on the toolbar.

Replace a placeholder logo with your own logo

  1. Click the logo placeholder, pause, and then click the placeholder picture again to display the Picture toolbar.
  2. On the Picture toolbar, click Insert PictureButton image .
  3. In the Insert Picture dialog box, browse to the location with the logo that you want to insert into the publication, and then double-click the picture. Publisher will automatically size the image to fit.
TIP   If you have included your logo in a business information set, and you select that business information set, the logo is added to new publication automatically.

CREATE A TWO-SIDED BUSINESS CARD

The back side of your card is a great place to add information to make it easier for customers to do business with you. You might want to include any of the following:
  • Map of your business's location
  • Driving directions
  • Coupon
  • Special discount for a referral
  • Company motto
  • Product list
  • Translation of side one into another language

Add information to the back of your business card

  1. Complete the steps for creating a one-sided business card.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Page.
  3. In the Insert Page dialog box, click After current page, and then select any options that you want.
For example, if the second side of your card will display the company motto, you may want to click Create one text box on each page. If the second side will include a translation in a different language, you may want to click Duplicate all objects on page, so that all of the colors, graphics, and text are available on the second page.
  1. Add the text, images, and other information that you want to appear on the back of your card.
  2. When the back side of the business card looks the way that you want, save the file.

Before you print your two-sided business cards

If you are printing two-sided business cards on your desktop printer, test your design on plain paper first, for the following reasons:
  • Desktop printers often don't align two-sided documents precisely. This is especially true if your printer does not support duplex printing and requires you to manually reinsert the paper to print on the second side.
  • To be printed correctly, front to back, the page margins of your card layout must be even (as they are in the default layout of 10 copies per sheet). If you have customized the spacing for margins or gaps, or if you have changed the Copies Per Sheet setting, the fronts and backs will be harder to align.
 DESIGNING YOUR CARD

When you start to design your business card, it is helpful to select your printing method — such as spot color or process colors if you plan to print your publication at a commercial printer — so you can plan ahead for any printing issues that may affect your design decisions. The business cards that you design in Publisher can be printed on your desktop printer or taken to a commercial printer, depending on your needs:
  • You may want to take your design to a commercial printer if you have to precisely match a specific color, if you need a large quantity, or if you need precise alignments or folds. Commercial printers have sophisticated machinery and offer a variety of papers, inks, varnishes, and other options. Find links to more information about taking your file to a commercial printer in the See Also section.
  • You can get great results with a desktop printer, too. Using a desktop printer gives you the flexibility to change your business cards at any time to better fit your needs. Most office supply stores carry prescored card sheets in a range of colors and specialty papers that have preprinted designs.

No matter how you choose to print your business cards, remember to include these basic elements:
  • Your company name and logo
  • Your name and title
  • Your mailing address and phone and fax numbers
  • Your e-mail address
  • Your Web site address (URL)

How To Make Calendar Out of Microsoft Publisher

In making a calendar using MS word, first is to open Microsoft Word Publisher, choose calendar from the popular publication types and to double-click the style we like which is pinstripes. The calendar automatically dated itself for the current month but we can change the orientation in the left task pane. And in our case, we need to make 2 calendars which we can change from a monthly to yearly calendar by opening the format button and calendar options. In the left task pane we clicked change date range box where we entered a new start date and a new end date.  We were able to change the color schemes by clicking color Schemes in the left task pane, clicking a scheme to apply it in our calendar. And to choose more colors, we clicked custom color scheme at the bottom of the task pane. Also, we changed text fonts by clicking the font schemes, clicking one of the options to apply it to the calendar or simply by selecting the text and changing it by going to the toolbar at the top of the screen. We changed the sample picture by right-clicking the image and choosing change picture button and selecting from our files or a clip art. Lastly, is to insert it into the calendar and adjust the size and style of the picture using the picture toolbar. Here’s the outcome of our first calendar constructing using the Microsoft Word (September and year 2011 calendar):

Watta Experience! (Best Ouput Ever!)

♫ Abi ninyo sayon, video editon, suwayi ninyo, suwayi ninyo...

     KAMO RA'Y KAPUYON! ♫

Before anything else, we would like to mention the people involved in the tedious video-making project.
Val Luis Estal from 3rd year Mendeleev
Algem Crusis from 3rd year Mendeleev
Andrea Mae Dulangon from 2nd year Aristotle
Innah Johanee Alaman from 2nd year Aristotle

Firstly, the choice of teammates was 2 from 2nd year and 2 from 3rd year. At first, 2 girls approached Innah and Andrea and asked if they could join their group. We readily agreed since one of the girl that approached us was Innah’s friend. But when Andrea saw Val and Algem, they told her that they already picked us, as their teammates. Sadly, Andrea told Innah that we can’t have 2 different teammates and so, we ‘broke’ the first collaboration.

  FIRST DAY (♫TADA!♫)
Started when Val and Algem went to Andrea’s house and discovered the wonders of Bula along with the delicious ‘cheesedesal’ (hot pandesal with cheese inside) Innah wasn't able to go to their house since she wasn’t informed, anyway they finished the introduction with the sort of humorous and gross video clip with people sneezing without any covering, thus exposing the mucus.

  Second day (Pagod!)
Was marked on Sunday. The agreement was to meet in pioneer at 8 am. The innocent Innah waited up to 9:30 in the pioneer where weird bystanders come and go, greeting and winking at her (rudely) She decided to go home after going to church and stumbling in the pathways of Plaza Heneral Santos. On the other hand, Val and Algem went to Andrea’s place (directly) around 12 noon. For short, Innah Alaman was the flower for decoration and did nothing (at least she tried!)

Either way, without the help of Innah they finished it. And they completed the masterpiece. (‘partida wala pa ang tulong ni Innah’)
Enjoy watching =)

Nutrition Month's "Breastfeeding"

"Isulong ang tamang breastfeeding, sapat at eksklusibo!"
A mother feeding her baby despite the feeling of being SUCKED. :)

Cheap may it seem, the healthiest beverage for babies are breast milk extracted from mother's love.

Breastfeeding is indeed best not only for babies, but also for mothers. Don't you know even if you duplicate the properties of a breast milk and add more vitamins and minerals in it, you can never ever  replace something better than breast milk!  And here are some facts about the beneficial effects of breast milk.

  • Children received the most complete and optimal mix of nutrients and anti-bodies.
- The breast milk itself is fortified of nutrients essentially needed by a new-born baby.
  • Protection against gastroenteritis, necrotizing enterocolitis.
- Breast milk is rich in probiotics with good bacteria which are helpful in digestion, therefore, it promotes healthy digestion and resistance to digestive illness.
  • Boosts your child's intelligence.
- Breast milk has been evolutionarily honed over millions of years to complete building the brain during the first two years of life.  Cow's milk has been evolutionarily honed to.., hmm.., maybe build big bones?  Whoever heard of a smart cow?

  • Can reduce mothers' stress level and your risk of postpartum depression.
- Seeing your very own child lifts up a mother's spirit thus, preventing postpartum depression and stress.
  • And last (but not the least), it can even protect your child from obesity.
- Study shows that breastfeeding prevents obesity with parameters from new-borns to adolescents.
All of these are indeed good to hear, but I didn't say that even you (ADULTS) should also drink breast milk (LOL, that's too awkward to think. :P)
But don't worry guys (ADULTS), there's still some way to be as healthy as a newborn baby. It's the new ice cream that's made up of breast milk... Yes, you see it right.. It was from a breast milk! In terms of taste, there is no difference compared to an ordinary ice cream, but this so-called "breast milk ice cream" is MORE nutritious compared to the ordinary one.
So mothers, let your newborn angels  taste  your breastmilk to protect them from any harm and of course, for them to be BEAUTIFUL and INTELLIGENT like us "The Hijas"!
      *kidding* :)

We Are "The Hijas" (First Post to... PROUD TO BE!)

"Who runs the world!? GIRLS.  Yep, we're straight girls named Andrea, Innah, Jenny, Charisse and Estella. We're happily single and WE DON'T NEED BOYS.  Andrea here, was super... CUTE (just kidding!). Charisse here was totally awesome (and beautiful too!). Innah here... so... so.. uuh.. kind? (kidding!) and we have Estella and Jenny with super awesome personality.
We're perfectly created by God (wag mag react) to share almost everything to you, to entertain you and most of all is to let you know.... well.. to let you know that we're just sharing thoughts.. :)

Here we are now to share something relevant FOR THE SAKE OF OUR GRADES. :) If you need anything, PLEASE, hesitate to ask! Nah, just joking!
